After a full week of match play, conditioning, and drills, 14 players were chosen for the varsity team and 12 for the junior varsity team. "The tryouts were highly competitive at the varsity and junior varsity levels," said Coach Tuttle.
The Crusaders return four starters from last year's 3-A state championship squad. The returning starters include Matt Daly (#1), Killian Steer (#3), Greg Galush (#5), and Pierce Beary (#6). Last year's #2, Chris Geaslen, is playing for Elon University this spring.
The team has added two talented freshmen, Matt Galush and Noah Constantine, who are both expected to join the starting lineup. Coach Tuttle has focused on setting the singles lineup and and deciding the doubles pairings for the season opening match with defending 4-A state champion Winston-Salem R.J. Reynolds.
"The team is excited about returning to the DecoTurf High School Tennis Team Championships in Louisville, Kentucky at the end of March and also looks forward to defending its conference and state championships," said Tuttle.
