Hazen has served as the men's tennis coach at Charlotte Catholic High School for the last 34 years, compiling an overall record of 371-109.    His teams have gone 224-25 in league matches.

The Cougars have won 24 conference championships during Hazen's tenure, 21 in a row.   His teams have won 144 consecutive conference matches.   Charlotte Catholic's last conference loss was in 1990.   Hazen has won numerous Coach of the Year awards in his conference, including the Mega-7 award this past spring.

Hazen was named the Charlotte Observer Men's Tennis Coach of the Year in 2005 and 2008.   His teams won state championships in 1992, 1997, 2004, 2005, and 2008 and finished second three other years.    Hazen is the only high school coach in North Carolina to take his team to the state dual team tournament every year since the tournament began in 1991.

Coach Hazen has coached three different doubles teams that won state titles and two different singles champions, including senior Kyle Johnson who won his third consecutive singles title this past spring.

He continues to give back to the sport, serving as the Midwestern Regional Director for the women and men during the 2010-11 school year.

Hazen has also served as the vice-president of the North Carolina High School Tennis Coaches Association since the organization was formed in 2006.   He has also served the NCHSTCA as a voter for its 3-A poll during the same time period.
